Based: Biased towards, or against.
Background Knowledge: In order for you to understand the source, you have to understand the historical context.
Inference: Based on this, I can infer this.
Sources that Conflict: Two sides of a story.
Reliability of Political Cartoons:

This political cartoon would contain numerous problems if it were to act as a piece of historical evidence. It's not reliable because it's very biased towards the adult. It's not intended to be historical evidence, but instead, a satirical cartoon mocking kids living in the modern world being less fit. A bit of background knowledge of the lifestyle of modern-day children to further understand the adult's comment. This cartoon also created sources that conflict including there being a lot of more variety of activities to choose from to get fit today. From this cartoon, I can infer that the artist, Dave Granlund, wants members of this current society to rethink and reflect on how the evolution of the world has both positively and negative impacted our lives.
reliable or not, biased, background knowledge necessary, and sources that would conflict.
