Concert Reflection for May 12, 2015
1. Did you feel well prepared for this performance, why or why not? (ie: Did you do what was expected of you leading up to the concert?)
Yes, because I practiced a lot and was very confident to get through all the pieces with very little mistakes.
2. What was the strongest part of our performance, and why?
Most of the dynamics were done correctly and that gave a nice vibe to the pieces, and made it just that bit more exciting to listen to.
3. What was the weakest part of our performance, and why? What can we (and you) do to improve for next time?
I think that we could practice more with smaller groups and have more rehearsals, because during a lot of the rests for the whole band, some people still played, making that part sounding really hurried and messy.
4. On a scale from 1 to 5, (5 being the best) how would you rate the overall band students’ behavior as audience members for this concert? Why? (no names please)
I would give a 4, because most of the band members were really quiet, and clapped enthusiastically when the piece ends. Those who needed to leave for the bus also made sure to leave during the applause and sneaked out quietly.
5. What was your favorite piece and why?
My favorite piece was the first one where the strings and band combined and played a 10 minute long music. I absolutely adored it because there were obvious climaxes and suddenly, it just drops to a hushed tone. There were huge contrasts that could be told easily, and to me, the piece was also very emotional.
